How to Request an Acrylic Sheet Quote: An RFQ Checklist for Importers

In years of quoting acrylic sheet for importers, the difference between a fast, accurate quote and a round of back-and-forth emails almost always comes down to one thing: how complete the request is. A well-prepared RFQ does not just get you a price – it gets you the right grade, the right thickness, an honest lead time and a packing plan that survives the voyage. Here is the checklist we wish every buyer sent on the first email.

What a good acrylic RFQ includes

Six pieces of information make an acrylic quotation accurate and shippable:

  • Application and environment – is it signage, a machine guard, a display, a roof or an enclosure? Indoor or outdoor? This decides cast versus extruded and whether you need UV stabilisation
  • Sheet size – length, width and thickness in millimetres, and the quantity. If you order cut panels, give the finished panel sizes rather than asking us to guess
  • Colour and finish – clear, clear with tint, opal/white, matt/frosted, a specific RAL or Pantone, or a sample to match. Colour drives grade and production
  • Level and surface – optical grade for lightboxes and lens work, or standard for general fabrication; and whether you need masking film for handling
  • Fabrication – do you need cut-to-size, edge polishing, drilling or CNC profiling? Done at the factory it avoids on-site stress and cracking
  • Logistics – your delivery terms (EXW, FOB, CIF), destination port, and whether you need full sheets or flat-packed cut panels for cost-efficient freight

The mistakes that slow down or inflate a quote

The requests that cost buyers time and money share the same patterns. A size but no application, so the sales team has to choose between optical and standard grade and often quotes for the wrong one. A thickness picked without panel size in mind, so a large board arrives and bows. A colour described from a screen instead of a code or chip, leading to a batch that does not match. And shipping asked for without packing details, so panels arrive scratched or with a backing film that is glued on. None of these is the material’s fault – each is a specification gap that a complete RFQ closes.

How we turn an RFQ into a shipment

When your request arrives complete we respond fast: we confirm the right grade and thickness for your application, confirm colour against our physical chips or your RAL/Pantone code, cut and fabricate to your sizes, and quote packing that is flat, braced and film-protected for sea or air freight. We state MOQ and lead time clearly on the quotation, and we document the grade behind it so your quality file is complete. One clear RFQ usually means one clear quote and a shipment that arrives as specified.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the minimum order quantity for acrylic sheet?

MOQ depends on grade, thickness and whether you order full sheets or fabricated panels. We state it clearly on the quotation; for standard grades it is kept low enough to suit new importers as well as volume buyers.

Do you provide samples before an order?

Yes. Small sample panels can be supplied so you can confirm thickness, colour and finish against your requirement before committing to a production run.

What lead time should an importer expect?

Standard grades are typically produced and shipped within a few weeks, and custom fabrication can add a little time. We confirm the lead time on the quotation so you can plan your stock or project calendar.
