RP cast acrylic aquarium panels are the clear structural walls behind home aquariums, restaurant tanks, shopping-mall exhibits, and themed attractions. Cell-cast PMMA gives far higher clarity, polishability, and long-term water performance than extruded acrylic or glass — which is why every premium public aquarium is built on cast acrylic.
Why cast acrylic for aquariums
- Huge panels, one piece. Cell-cast panels can be produced tens of millimeters thick and several meters wide — no unsightly joints across the main viewing window.
- Optical clarity. ~92 % light transmission with a glass-like refractive index; edges can be flame-polished to invisibility.
- Half the weight of glass. A 50 mm acrylic window weighs about the same as 12 mm glass — far cheaper to support and ship.
- Bondable. Panels can be edge-bonded into cylinders, boxes, and curved walls; the bond line is engineered to match the parent material.
- Safe by failure mode. Acrylic yields and cracks slowly instead of shattering into sharp shards like glass.
